The glasses and case were a gift from Carmen L. Rivera, Professor Emeritus, Modern Foreign Language. Carmen Rivera chaired and read at a symposium at Mary Washington College in 1967. It was while working on her dissertation on Benito Perez Galdos that she met 'Maria' with whom he spent his springs in the northern province of Spain.
